Management Advisory

When the Business Grows Faster Than Its Management System

Many businesses have strong products, customers and markets, yet begin to struggle when their scale and complexity grow faster than their ability to manage them.

Revenue may increase while cash becomes tighter. Business owners remain involved in too many day-to-day decisions. Responsibilities across functions are unclear. Costs rise without a corresponding improvement in performance. Receivables, inventory, debt, people and operations begin to create interconnected bottlenecks.

In these situations, the business needs to look beyond individual problems and examine how it is organised, managed, how resources are allocated and how decisions are made.

EPS focuses on identifying the critical bottlenecks, prioritising the changes that matter most and working with the management team to put those changes into practice.

Where EPS Can Support Your Business

The scope of each engagement is defined around the actual issues facing the business and may include:

  • Organisation and delegation: clarify roles, responsibilities, decision rights and coordination across functions.
  • Finance and cash flow: improve working capital, receivables, budgeting, debt management and resource allocation.
  • Operational performance: identify bottlenecks and inefficient costs, and improve planning, coordination and control.
  • Management information: define the key indicators and information management needs to monitor the business and make timely decisions.
  • Managing growth: strengthen financial, organisational and management capacity before further expansion.
  • Restructuring: address financial, organisational and operational issues together when isolated adjustments are no longer sufficient.

Advisory That Creates Practical Change

EPS does not approach Management Advisory as an exercise in analysis followed by a report. We work with business owners and the people directly responsible for execution to put solutions into practice.

  • Understand the real issues through data and day-to-day business realities.
  • Set priorities and determine what needs to be addressed first.
  • Develop practical solutions suited to the business, its people and available resources.
  • Guide implementation with the people directly responsible for execution.
  • Monitor and adjust as implementation progresses and conditions change.

The objective is not simply for the business to know what should be done, but to make the changes work and sustain them over time.

Management Advisory

When Should a Business Consider Working with EPS?

Management Advisory is particularly relevant when the business is operating successfully but its management system is beginning to fall behind its scale or complexity.

  • Revenue is growing, but cash flow is becoming tighter.
  • The business owner remains involved in too many day-to-day decisions.
  • Roles, responsibilities and decision rights are unclear.
  • Functions are not coordinating effectively.
  • Costs are rising without a corresponding improvement in performance.
  • The business is preparing to expand but its management system is not yet ready.
  • Important issues have persisted without being resolved effectively.

Sometimes the clearest sign is simply this: the business owner knows something needs to change but is not sure where to start.

Lead Advisor

Le Trung Nam

Le Trung Nam

CEO, EPS Investing

Le Trung Nam has more than 25 years of experience in finance, investment and business management. He previously worked at the State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC) and has held senior positions including CFO, CEO, Chairman of the Board and Board Member across multiple companies.

His experience spans financial management, cash flow and capital, restructuring, organisational management, control systems and major business decisions. This practical background underpins EPS’s hands-on approach to Management Advisory.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Corporate Finance and Accounting from the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, undertook postgraduate studies in economics and public policy at the Fulbright Economics Teaching Program, and completed a Master’s degree in Economics at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City. He has also participated in international programmes in innovation and business management supported by the Governments of Finland and Germany.

Management and Restructuring Experience

C47 — Strengthening Management and Business Performance

Le Trung Nam served as Chairman of the Board of C47 from April 2020 to August 2021 and subsequently continued as a Board Member and Chairman of the Audit Committee.

During this period, he was directly involved in major decisions relating to management, finance, capital, control and business development. C47’s profit increased from VND 6.4 billion in 2019 to VND 21.7 billion in 2020 and VND 44.3 billion in 2021.

He also played a direct role in negotiating a USD 185 million EPC contract for a hydropower project in Laos and related financing arrangements.

The C47 experience reinforced a practical principle: a management system creates value when it improves decision-making, strengthens the use of resources and translates direction into business results.

Steel Builder — Restructuring from Within

Before C47, Le Trung Nam served as CFO of Steel Builder Vietnam during a period when the company needed to overcome significant challenges and strengthen its operating foundation.

His work covered cash flow, working capital, banking, costs, contracts and business operations. The restructuring process was carried out directly with the management team and operating functions, addressing issues within the day-to-day business rather than treating them as isolated financial problems.

During this period, the company progressively stabilised its operations and revenue increased from approximately VND 200 billion to more than VND 400 billion.

The Steel Builder experience demonstrated that financial challenges are often closely connected with how a business operates, allocates resources, coordinates internally and makes decisions. Improving results requires addressing these issues together.

EPS works with the people responsible for the business to identify the right issues, develop practical solutions and turn necessary changes into action.
